Liquor Licensing Policy now clear on 'phase in' period

09 Sep 2007

A policy of the Director of Liquor Licensing on Approved Managers now clears up the confusion on ‘the phase in period’ which applies to existing licensees. The policy states that "As a phased in approach of this new training requirement, in the case of existing licensees, any subsequent approved managers need only complete the nationally accredited responsible service of alcohol unit of competency".

Whilst the policy does not refer to how long the phase in period will be for, we have had advice from the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor to indicate that this will be for a period of twelve months at which time all Approved Managers will need to have completed the Short Course in Liquor Licensing.
