Local Communities to receive $300 Million for Regional and Local Infrastructure

20 Nov 2008

On 18 November, the Federal Government announced a $300 million program to build local community infrastructure in all of Australia's 565 local council areas.

Funding will be delivered under the program by 30 June 2009 and is also an initial down-payment on the Government's plans to meet urgent needs in communities and create long-term infrastructure.

Sport and recreational facilities, such as sporting grounds, stadiums, pools, walking tracks and playgrounds and social and cultural infrastructure, such as town halls, community centres, libraries, parks, and public squares are some of the examples of community infrastructure that would be eligible for the $300 million funding.

Clubs WA is encouraging all member clubs to promptly request funding from their local government for club infrastructure requirements. For further information please contact Clubs WA Executive Officer, Ms Linda Admiraal, on 9312 1655.
