Volunteer Grants 2009

21 Aug 2009

Non-profit clubs who are supported by volunteers can apply for Australian Government grants of up to $5,000 to purchase equipment and cover the cost of petrol.

$21 million will be distributed across Australia in the 2009 round of volunteer grants, with grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to purchase equipment, including computers, tools and air conditioners and also help with fuel costs. Earlier this year, clubs were amongst the 7200 organisations who received funding to help purchase equipment such as first aid kits, fridges, barbeques, computers and software.

Volunteers are a crucial part of every local community club. They serve on committees, coach junior sports teams, volunteer to operate club facilities, they donate equipment, money, ideas and most importantly their valuable time. It is great to see the Australian Government recognise the need to financially support the most integral part of community business and Clubs WA encourages all clubs to apply for a grant to reward their volunteers and the club.
