The Festive Season has arrived! It’s such a wonderful time of the year and an even more important time for your club to come together to develop deeper member and community relationships. The Christmas period can provide an opportunity for clubs to look into how they can retain relationships with current club members, and work towards enticing new members to join. Through hosting various events and activities, this provides a perfect opportunity to do both. Here are a few tips on what you can do to get the most out of your club this Christmas period.
An important part of building club morale is through hosting an end of year wind-up. Whether that be a dinner, sundowner, BBQ, or tapas, it is important to come together. Having a wind-up can provide both club committees, staff and members, an opportunity to mingle and build club connections. For a wind-up, it is essential to include games and activities. You can tailor this to adults, children, or both, depending on what your club demographic is. Examples include athletics carnival games, secret Santa or a quiz night.
Engaging with the local community by inviting them to your club wind up for a day of food, games and fun for all the family can be worthwhile as well. Using a day like this can be an opportunity to sell your club to potential new members. Adults are always looking for ways to be active or social, and parents are always on the lookout for ways to keep their kids occupied. Painting your club as family-friendly and inclusive will see you finding new members that could stay with you for an entire lifetime. A wind-up will also provide an opportunity to give recognition and to thank members who give so much to your club.
