STRIVE Program 2020: The Race is Still On!

STRIVE Program 2020: The Race is Still On!

Proudly supported by the Road Safety Commission, the Clubs WA STRIVE Program 2020 presents clubs with the chance to win up to $2,000! All you have to do is complete four levels of simple challenges that demonstrate your club’s commitment to road safety and member safety.

You’re probably wondering, how exactly can participating in this program win up to $2,000 for my club?

There are three categories that each club falls into, depending on its annual turnover: small, medium, or large. The first three clubs in each category to successfully complete all four levels of the STRIVE Program will receive $500. Furthermore, every club to successfully complete all four levels will automatically go in the running to win our Road Safety Award. The winning club in each category will win $1,500!

We’re proud to say that our STRIVE Program is in full swing! It’s been incredibly rewarding seeing clubs go the extra mile to show their commitment to the values of the STRIVE Program: Success, Transparency, Road Safety, Integration, Values, and Engagement.

We quizzed two clubs who have already completed our STRIVE Program to pick their brains on the process.

Rockingham City Football Club (RCFC)

1. What size is Rockingham City Football Club: Small (annual turnover of <$500,000), Medium (annual turnover of $500,000 – $1,000,000) or Large (annual turnover of >$1,000,000)?

Small – $350,000

2. How did you find the process of completing the STRIVE Program? How long did it take you?

We gathered all the relevant information over a four- week period.

3. Did you face any challenges while completing the program?

Knowing where to get all the information.

4. Do you have any advice for other clubs on how to successfully complete the program?

Seek assistance from committee, coaches, players & volunteers and others.

5. Has your club experienced any benefits as a result of completing the program?

Welcoming new sponsors and committee members on board.

6. Although you have completed the program, have you found that your club is continuing the philosophy of striving for Success, Transparency, Road Safety, Integration, Values, and Engagement?

RCFC will always continue to strive to be successful, transparent, road & general safety conscious. Integrate with our community, stay true to our values, engaging with our entire membership and local community to provide a safe and friendly environment and most important for all our kids and players to enjoy playing and watching our great sporting game of soccer.

Gosnells Bowling Club

1. What size is Gosnells Bowling Club: Small (annual turnover of <$500,000), Medium (annual turnover of $500,000 – $1,000,000) or Large (annual turnover of >$1,000,000)?

Gosnells Bowling Club is a small club (but a big club at heart!)

2. How did you find the process of completing the STRIVE Program? How long did it take you?

The process was well thought out and presented by Clubs WA. It was also rewarding to see how easily we were able to achieve the levels. The application for all levels was completed within a few days.

3. Did you face any challenges completing the program?

There weren’t any issues for us thanks to the ability to ‘tick the boxes’ and the way the program was presented by Clubs WA.

4. Do you have any advice for other clubs on how to successfully complete the program?

While the program has a strong focus on road safety, there is an underlying message of running your club in a business-like manner. We are fortunate to have an Executive team that recognised some years ago the need to move towards a business model. This has resulted in a resourceful and dynamic lawn bowls club that has a strong future. The program is a guide illustrating many aspects of a sustainable business, so use it as a guide for success.

5. Although you have completed the program, have you found that your club is continuing the philosophy of striving for Success, Transparency, Road Safety, Integration, Values, and Engagement?

The STRIVE philosophy has been the mantra of the modern Gosnells Bowling Club. The road safety element has been implemented and integrated into the fabric of our commitment to our members and the wider community. We are geared for success, are transparent in everything we do, have strong values, and a long-term goal of integration and engagement with our community.
