The Pemberton Community Sports Club (PCSC) is a community run facility servicing the Pemberton and the surrounding community located in the heart of the Southern Forests Region approximately three and half hours from Perth.

As the Chef, you will be pivotal in crafting (along with your team) a memorable experience for locals and travellers alike. If you enjoy working or you are looking for a ‘tree-change’ in an community minded friendly environment, then this is the position for you.

Reporting to:

  • PCSC Executive Committee

Working with:

  • Bar Manager and staff
  • Administration staff
  • PCSC Executive Committee

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing inventory levels, ordering and stock control to optimise efficiency and minimise waste
  • Comply with Work Health and Safety Act 2020 WA and maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area paying attention to possible health hazards and regulation violations
  • Oversee back-of-house operations
  • Set staffing schedule
  • Organise pre-shift meetings
  • Develop recipes and menus
  • Determines plating and presentation plans
  • Ensure the EPOS terminals are updated with the latest products, pricings and loyalty/reward documentation.
  • Assure all money transactions are conducted with no variance
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, excellence and professionalism
  • Train, mentor and supervise kitchen staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service and adherence to PCSC standards
  • Liaise with Bar Manager to enable a coordinated team effort between Restaurant and Bar
  • Track customer preferences and sales
  • Oversee planning for special events in collaboration with Bar Manager
  • Appropriately assign tasks to staff
  • Hire, training, promotion and when necessary, discipline kitchen staff
  • Provide input on décor and marketing, including social media and other forms of publicity
  • Initiates and maintains vendor relationships
  • Use of point-of-sale technology
  • Create, update and follow organisational policies and procedures guidelines in relation to kitchen facility Pemberton Community Sports Club Inc.
  • Maintain budget and monitors costs
  • Monthly report for the PCSC Executive Committee meeting held second Monday of each month
  • Any disputes between Restaurant and Bar staff that cannot be resolved, must be brought to the attention of the PCSC Executive Committee immediately for resolution

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Proven experience as a Executive/Head Chef or similar role in a restaurant environment
  • Hold a current Food Safety Supervisors Certificate Level 1 & 2
  • Excellent knowledge of food, beverage and hospitality industry standards
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Able to create recipes and menus of an exceptional standard
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve common goals
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering superior customer service
  • Experience of modern POS systems eg EPOS to facilitate orders and process payments
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25kgs
  • Willingness to work as required eg evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Engaging with customers, advising them of current and upcoming promotions
  • Ensuring the kitchen and restaurant areas are clean and well maintained, with any spills and other health hazards actioned appropriately
  • Excellent ability to multitask and remain composed in a noisy, high-pressure environment

General

  • You will be expected to carry out your duties in a diligent and professional manner with a friendly outgoing attitude. It is important that you work together with the Bar Manager and members of the PCSC Executive Committee to ensure a high standard of professional service and providing an enjoyable environment for staff, members and customers alike.
  • You will be expected to participate in additional training if required and to take an interest in developments within the industry to keep abreast of new initiatives.

 

Work hours & Benefits

  • Permanent position – Wednesday – Saturday (possible Sundays by negotiation)
