Located at Woodman Point, Cockburn Power Boats Club (CPBC) is a non-profit member-based Club with approximately 1200 members. Established in 1961 with a proud history, the Club provides all the facilities and conveniences Members require to make their boating experience a safe and enjoyable one.
CPBC boasts 5 floating launching and retrieval ramps, 8 boat wash down bays, 50 water pens, hardstand storage, fish cleaning station, secure parking, and function facilities overlooking the stunning Cockburn Sound for its Members.
The core objective of the Club is to promote and encourage the use of recreational watercraft powered by sail or engine.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Commodore and Management Committee, the Club Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of CPBC, ensuring the smooth running of the Club while delivering on its strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operations & Compliance – Upholding CPBC’s Constitution, policies, and rules while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Facilities & Asset Management – Overseeing the maintenance and presentation of Club assets, including boat pens, jetties, hardstand, clubhouse, and grounds.
- Member Engagement & Events – Developing and delivering engaging social activities and ensuring an outstanding experience for all members.
- Hospitality & Functions – Managing bar operations, function facilities, and ensuring compliance with liquor licensing regulations.
- People & Culture – Leading and developing a small team while fostering a positive and professional workplace culture.
- Financial Management – Overseeing budgets, financial compliance, and ensuring the Club’s financial sustainability in a non-profit environment.
- Health & Safety – Ensuring strong occupational health and safety policies, environmental safeguards, and risk management practices.
- Stakeholder & Supplier Relations – Building strong relationships with sponsors, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
YOU
To be successful in this position, you will have at least five years of operational management experience in a club, hospitality, retail, or similar environment. A strong leader and communicator, you excel at managing teams, fostering a positive culture, and building strong relationships with members and stakeholders. Your business and financial acumen enable you to oversee budgets and ensure compliance, while your exceptional time management and problem-solving skills help you handle multiple priorities with attention to detail.
Experience in a non-profit, member-based organisation is advantageous, as is a background in facilities and project management. Knowledge of boating is a plus but not essential. Most importantly, you bring a hands-on, proactive approach and a commitment to delivering a high-quality member experience.
