Albany Racing Club, established in 1865, is a cornerstone of the Great Southern’s sporting landscape. Located at the picturesque Percy Spencer Racecourse, the Club delivers 14 race meetings annually, including prestigious events like the Bluff Knoll Slot Race and the Albany Cup. The Club is seeking a General Manager to lead its operations and continue its tradition of excellence in regional racing.
The Role
- Report to the Chairperson and oversee the strategic and operational functions of the Club
- Manage racing operations, events, and facilities
- Drive commercial growth through sponsorship and community engagement
- Oversee financial management, compliance, and reporting
- Lead and support a small, dedicated team
- Foster strong engagement with members, patrons, and stakeholders
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Have proven management experience in sporting clubs, events, or similar settings
- Demonstrate strong financial, marketing, and operational capabilities
- Be adept at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Possess knowledge of, or enthusiasm for, thoroughbred racing
- Be flexible to work race days and weekends as needed
- Experience in regional or not-for-profit organisations is highly regarded
