Established in 1999, the Western Australian Speedway Commission (WASC) is a non-profit sporting association based in Floreat, Perth. Appointed as the governing body for speedway in Western Australia, WASC is supported by the Department of Sport and Recreation and is overseen by a Board of elected and independent Commissioners. The Commission’s core purpose is to deliver safety, education, and training across the state’s speedway community. WASC is currently seeking a General Manager to lead its day-to-day operations and stakeholder engagement, and to identify marketing opportunities that increase revenue. The role offers a salary of $90,300 – $115,000 per year.

The Role

  • Manage the operations of WASC and liaise with affiliated stakeholders

  • Oversee finances to ensure effective allocation, transparency, and compliance with financial standards

  • Build strong internal and external relationships within the sport and with relevant bodies

  • Collaborate with the Board to implement a 5-year strategic plan and report progress quarterly

  • Develop and present marketing and sponsorship plans for approval

  • Facilitate communication and engagement with members through newsletters and updates

  • Coordinate Safety and Training Committee meetings and report outcomes

  • Manage training schedules and official accreditations

  • Maintain policies, the website, social media, and ensure availability of resources and communications

  • Develop a risk management framework

  • Organise Board and Audit meetings with required documentation and follow-ups

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, decision making, and communication skills

  • Possess organisational and financial acumen

  • Have marketing, networking, and conflict resolution experience

  • Show the ability to plan and implement strategic changes

  • Hold a formal sporting administration qualification or equivalent

  • Have prior experience in sports administration and knowledge of motorsport

  • Hold a current Working with Children check, driver’s license, and police check
