Located just 20 minutes from Perth in the riverside suburb of Alfred Cove, Tompkins Park Function Centre, is a truly stunning venue. With spectacular river and City views the venue provides patrons, members and visitors with a truly unique dining and function experience that is unparalleled in Perth.

The venue is poised for a period of significant growth, and we are currently looking for a suitably qualified and motivated hospitality management professional who can take the operation to the next level.

This would include the attraction and retention of new members but more importantly through the development of relationships and partnerships with our Affiliate & Associate Member Sporting Clubs and the broader community to drive events and functions.

VENUE MANAGER – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Board, the role will have direct responsibility for the day to day running of the venue, as well as the leadership and supervision of the Club’s Food, Beverage & Function operations including staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the day to day running of the Food and Beverage Department and working closely with the Head Chef and service team
  • Responsible for all areas of food and beverage service and the customer service experience including functions
  • Developing and maintaining strong and sustainable relationships with members, their guests and visitors
  • Financial planning, budgeting & analysis and monthly Board reporting
  • Sourcing, communicating, planning and co-ordinating events & functions
  • Working to increase community awareness of the venue through appropriate channels

In addition, the role will involve:

  • Managing staff to ensure service levels are consistent and of the highest possible standard
  • Staff recruitment and ongoing staff training
  • Driving revenue by maximising opportunities
  • Implementing strategies to appropriately manage costs
  • Roster preparation and approval of timesheets in accordance with club processes and legislation
  • Stock rotation and ordering, including stocktakes

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

The successful candidate will have previous experience managing food and beverage venues and functions in a Club or restaurant environment.

In addition, we are looking for someone who possesses the following attributes:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • A strong understanding of the key fundamentals of running a Club or restaurant
  • An ability to work both ‘in’ the business as well as ‘on’ the business
  • Strong organisational skills and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A history of working within budgeted guidelines
  • Hold a current WA Liquor License, or the ability to obtain one
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills
  • Have a professional, friendly and engaging personality
  • Understanding of Awards and OHS requirements in a hospitality environment
  • Formal qualifications in hospitality management or similar
  • Experience in event management and coordination
